Technician
Technicians will be responsible for monitoring air quality levels by walking grids and taking readings throughout predetermined routes at landfill sites. This role involves carrying backpack monitoring equipment weighing between 30-50 lbs and using hand-held GPS units to track routes. Technicians will travel to various landfill sites in the East Bay area, including the Fremont-Fairfield-Pleasanton triangle, to perform these analyses. The job requires walking up steep grades for 6-8 hours a day on sites that can be dirty, dusty, and have strong odors.
Upon detecting air quality issues, technicians will mark the area with a landscape flag and continue their route.
- Walk grids to take air quality readings at landfill sites.
- Carry and operate backpack monitoring equipment and hand-held GPS units.
- Travel to various landfill sites in the East Bay area for site analysis.
- Walk for extended periods, up steep grades, and in challenging environmental conditions.
- Mark areas of concern with a landscape flag when air quality sensors detect issues.
- Air monitoring and inspection proficiency.
- Experience in air quality monitoring and environmental inspection.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- General labor and data entry capabilities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Transferable construction experience preferred.
- Previous heavy construction or landfill experience is beneficial but not required.

Work EnvironmentTechnicians will work at California landfills in all weather conditions, including rain, cold, and hot summer weather. Teams consist of one SEM Lead and 3-4 SEM Techs, typically traveling together. Employees can either meet at the office site in Pleasanton to travel in a company truck or travel to the job site independently. Safety gear such as visibility vests, hard hats, work boots, and safety glasses are provided and required.
This is a non-hazardous, non-construction, and non-medical role.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Modesto, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
