POSITION PURPOSE

This role accelerates business value by ensuring Reddy Ice’s merchandisers are well-maintained and functioning properly. Demonstrates our “True North” attributes: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, no nonsense communication and utilization of facts, servant leadership and has a continuous improvement mindset in every facet of leadership and daily interaction. Leads, collaborates and demonstrates the lean principles and utilizes the lean methodologies and tools to facilitate continuous process improvements and value creation for our customers, employees and shareholders.

Actively utilizes lean tools (VSM, Kaizen, A3, etc.) to inform and assess business opportunities to drive continuous improvement. Lead and participate in Kaizen and value stream mapping activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct repairs and service calls on ice merchandisers.
  • Complete installations, replacements, and removals of ice merchandisers at customer locations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of ice merchandisers.
  • Work at customer locations, Reddy Ice plants & DC’s, and within refurbishment centers.
  • Regularly attend company-sponsored technician trainings as required; demonstrate desire and ability to learn additional trade skills as directed by company.
  • Ensure vehicle, tools, and equipment are in good working order; maintain spare parts inventory on vehicle and communicate need for additional supplies.
  • Drive a customer-centric culture by engaging in respectful, consistent communication with our customers while striving to promote outstanding customer service.
  • Communicate opportunities for SOP improvement to the Field Equipment Service Manager; contribute to peer discussions regarding equipment maintenance and cleanliness best practices via video conference, conference calls, and through other technology.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, managers, and the general public at all times. Operate company vehicle safely and in accordance with all applicable laws of the road, report to the assigned job site in uniform and ready to begin work at the designated start time, immediately report any accidents/injuries, and strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Policies, Programs & Procedures Manual.
  • Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or managers with other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

EPA Type 1 or Universal certification for refrigeration; high school diploma, trade school certificate in refrigeration, or equivalent experience. Must have a valid driver’s license (operator’s / Class

C) and an acceptable MVR, as use of company vehicle may be required. Maintain internal company testing requirements above 80% for all company Tech 1 level training courses. Previous experience in refrigeration, HVAC, electrical trade, or similar role involving repair/installation of refrigeration units is a plus. No experience required otherwise.
