Heavy Duty Technician

Position Overview

Transdev is hiring a Heavy‑Duty Technician at DC Water in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel and gas engines on various vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity.

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel and gas engines.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
• Lead diagnostic tests to identify complex issues and develop comprehensive repair strategies.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Complete other duties as required.

• Minimum Class B CDL preferred.
• 3–5 years of automotive and diesel transit bus or heavy truck maintenance & repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess a mechanic’s tool set.
• ASE certifications preferred; willingness to participate in company ASE certification program.
• Subject to DOT drug testing as per 49 CFR Part 40.

• Competitive compensation: $25.00–$40.00 per hour.
• Vacation: minimum 2 weeks.
• Sick days: 5 days.
• Holidays: 11 days.

• Company‑paid ASE testing, training materials, and tool reimbursement.

• Work outside 100% of the job in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances and on possible sloped or uneven surfaces.
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the day; lift material up to 50 lb. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel or crouch to access equipment at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes and noise.

• Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
• Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
• Maintain a drug‑free workplace as required by Transdev.
