Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are seeking an experienced Diesel Truck Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of heavy‑duty diesel trucks. This role is responsible for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, performing preventative maintenance, and completing repairs to maximize fleet uptime and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on diesel trucks.
- Diagnose and repair engine, brake, suspension, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot vehicle issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Replace and repair components including motors, transmissions, and hydraulic parts.
- Complete welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
- 4+ years of diesel mechanic experience on trucks or heavy equipment.
- Experience with diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drive trains, brakes, and fleet maintenance.
- Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented shop environment.
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment in a fast‑paced setting.
- Trade school certification in Diesel Technology or related field.
- Experience with refuse, construction, agricultural, or heavy‑duty fleet vehicles.
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Modesto, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
