General Management, Contracts Manager
The Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for managing daily operations, including route supervision, staff and operator supervision, effective communication with internal and external customers, coaching employees for optimal performance, and overseeing the operation in the General Manager’s absence. This position is based in Modesto, CA and supports the StanRTA.
Benefits- Competitive compensation package: $70,000 – $82,000 for Paratransit Operations Manager.
- Competitive compensation package: $83,000 – $95,000 for Fixed Route Operations Manager.
- Vacation: minimum 2 weeks.
- Sick days: 5 days.
- Holidays: 12 days (8 standard and 4 floating).

- Supervise daily activities of all operators and coordinate activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel.
- Oversee scheduling of operators; monitor operations and coordinate delivery of service with superiors.
- Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure all operation service requirements are met.
- Track, compile, and analyze performance; handle interdepartmental issues; resolve employee issues and grievances; improve processes and route scheduling.
- Make hiring decisions for authorized roles; evaluate staff performance; ensure timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks.
- Assist in accident/incident investigation and provide on‑site assistance to safety and training personnel.
- Coordinate with the safety and training department to meet all safety goals and directives.
- Develop operations department budget.
- May operate a vehicle in revenue service, if necessary.
- Perform other duties as required.
Travel outside of the immediate area is required as a percent of total travel (percent not specified).
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) required.
- Class B or higher commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement and air brake endorsement required or the ability to obtain one.
- 3 or more years of relevant transit supervisory experience required.
- Thorough knowledge of transit system regulations and operations.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant database programs.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with labor; may include labor grievances and negotiations.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable; DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
- Work environment will be a combination of indoor and outdoor settings.
