Responsibilities:- Oversee the company’s WIP reporting process, including project cost reviews, margin analysis, backlog visibility, billing alignment, and financial risk identification.
- Partner with Operations, Project Managers, Accounting, and executive leadership to review project financial performance and support timely corrective action.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Oversee the Controller and accounting function to ensure accurate reporting, timely close, compliance, and strong financial controls.
- Manage banking, bonding, surety, audit, tax, and other key financial relationships.
- Develop executive financial dashboards and KPIs that provide visibility into profitability, cash flow, backlog, WIP trends, and operational performance.
- Lead and develop the accounting and finance team while improving systems, processes, accountability, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing WIP reporting and construction project financial reviews, including project costing, margin analysis, backlog tracking, billing alignment, and risk identification.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field required; CPA, CMA, MBA, or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred, especially with a commercial contractor, general contractor, heavy civil contractor, railroad contractor, or specialty contractor.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, billing, backlog, project costing, and profitability analysis.
- Experience managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, banking relationships, bonding/surety support, controls, audits, compliance, and risk management.
- Experience leading a Controller, accounting manager, or accounting/finance team.
- Experience with construction ERP systems and project accounting platforms strongly preferred;
Vista/Viewpoint, Procore, Foundation, Sage, or similar systems are a plus. - Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to executives, ownership, project leaders, and external financial partners.
