Position: Long-Term Substitute - Language Arts Teacher - Molalla High School

Molalla High Schoolis  actively recruiting for a Long-Term Sub Language Arts Teacher for the remainder of the  school year.

Anticipated dates March 17, 2026 - June 10, 2026 - 57 days

JOB GOALS:
  • Create a classroom environment which is safe and conducive to learning.
  • Implement instructional strategies and programs which meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Assist students in the acquisition of skills and knowledge necessary to achieve the State Benchmark Standards in the areas of reading, literature, writing, and speaking.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Holds a valid Oregon Secondary Teaching license with the appropriate endorsements in reading and/or Language Arts.
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of adolescents.
  • Understands the instructional and assessment requirements necessary to assist our students in reaching the content and performance standards in reading, literature, writing, speaking, and listening as established by Oregon's adoption of the ELA Common Core Standards.
  • Possesses knowledge of effective behavior management methods.
  • Possesses functional computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and an understanding of how computers can assist instruction.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides instruction in reading, literature, writing, speaking, and listening utilizing a course of study which focuses on the state content and performance standards and is adopted by the Board of Education.
  • In preparation for instruction, addresses both short- and long-term learning goals, including the district and state performance standards. Shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Provides appropriate learning experiences, including activities which encourage students to think independently, express original ideas, and analyze critically their writing and the writing of others.
  • Adapts and modifies instructional strategies and materials, as necessary, to support all students' academic progress.
  • Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the District and/ or in self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Uses a variety of formal and informal assessments, including content and performance assessments, to monitor student progress and achievement of the instructional objectives.
  • Documents student learning through the use of portfolios, which may include student work samples, test scores, anecdotal records, tapes, computer disks, video recordings, etc.
  • Uses a grading system which is consistent, fair and supportable.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  • Maintains professional confidentiality concerning individual student data and achievement.
  • Identifies and refers students who need additional services and support.
  • Communicates to students and parents the level of student achievement and progress towards established classroom, district, and state standards.
  • Works constructively with colleagues and others for the purpose of improving the quality of a student's behavior and academic success.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment. Notifies and involves parents/guardians regarding a student's behavior as outlined in school and District policies.
  • Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.
  • Encourages parents to volunteer and provides them with constructive tasks to perform.
  • Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as Board Policy and State Law.
  • Participates in various meetings (e.g. staff, team, parent conferences, in-service training, etc,) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information or sharing expertise.
  • Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board or Administration.
