Bethany Baptist Church – Student Minister (Part-time moving to full-time ASAP)
700 35th Ave. Moline, IL
Who We Are:Bethany Baptist Church (Converge Baptist) is a gospel-centered, community-loving church located in the heart of Moline, IL. We're all about building authentic relationships, living out our faith, and raising up the next generation of Christ-followers. We believe youth ministry is not just a program - it's a calling to help students encounter Jesus and shape their world for His glory.
Position Overview:We're looking for a passionate, people-smart, Jesus-loving Student Minister to lead our growing student ministry (Grades 6–12). This is a part-time position (for now) with room to grow. You’ll bring vision, energy, and leadership to our students and build a ministry that is biblically sound, relationally rich, and spiritually vibrant. We will work with you to find a schedule that works part-time until the position grows into full-time (which is the plan!)
You’llThrive in This Role If You:
- Love Jesus and genuinely live like Him.
- See youth ministry as working with wet cement - ready to help shape lives.
- Know how to have fun while staying grounded in truth.
- Are a leader who’s hungry, humble, and relationally wise. Must be willing to put the time into the ministry for all teens.
- Think Tik Tok and Bible study can both be part of ministry (with discernment, of course).
- Want to grow in ministry under a Senior Pastor who has 20+ years of youth ministry experience and has your back.
- Disciple students into a thriving relationship with Jesus.
- Build a team of solid, passionate volunteers who love students.
- Create environments where students feel seen, heard, and spiritually challenged.
- Support parents/guardians as they lead at home.
- Teach the Bible in a way that’s relevant, engaging, and transformative.
- Be present in students’ lives through events, activities, and everyday moments (as your schedule allows).
- A heart for discipleship and a clear commitment to Christ.
- A knack for building relationships with teens and their parents.
- Strong communication skills - whether it’s a heartfelt convo or a creative Instagram post.
- Ability to recruit, train, and invest in volunteers.
- Conflict resolution chops - because ministry gets real sometimes.
- A sense of humor (yes, we love to laugh here).
- A commitment to excellence and safety in all areas, including background checks and child protection policies.
- Planning and leading weekly youth gatherings.
- Mentoring students and walking alongside them in faith.
- Equipping and empowering adult leaders.
- Choosing and teaching biblically sound curriculum.
- Being a bridge between church and community organizations.
- Engaging students where they are - school lunches, games, events, and sometimes in the mess of real life.
- Meeting regularly with the Senior Pastor and attending staff meetings (flexible to your availability).
- Attending Sunday worship and being part of the church family.
- Competitive salary for a part-time role.
- A generous youth ministry budget - not just pizza money!
- An office and a gym (yes, really).
- Freedom to use current materials or bring in something new.
- Paid leadership training and development opportunities.
- A supportive leadership team that believes in student ministry.
- Room to grow - this could be just the beginning of your journey with us.
