Clinical Simulation Technologist

32 hours per week (M-F, daytime hours)

Conducts and performs simulations and related pre-radiation treatment duties under the supervision of the Radiation Oncology Manager and direction of the Radiation Oncologist. Responsible for other designated areas as requested by the Radiation Oncology Manager. Assists all members of the health care team.

Responsibilities

Utilizes CT Simulator to prepare patients to be treated with ionizing radiation therapy, which includes explaining the procedure to the patient and educating them about the process.

Ensures accurate positioning of the patient and equipment, and photographs and tattoos the treatment area as per physician directives.

Maintains patient safety by utilizing radiation safety guidelines and is cognizant of radiation safety for self and others.

Obtains informed consent and prepares and processes all paperwork and charges related to pre-radiation therapy procedures.

Performs maintenance of equipment and treatment area and prepares CT images to be interpreted by Radiation Oncologist.

Manages the daily schedule for CT simulations and schedules daily appointments on the linear accelerators.

Qualifications

Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology

Current registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology

Current license with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety
