This role is located at our beautiful headquarters on River Drive in Moline, IL. This facility includes a comfortable office environment with an on-site gym facility.

Summary of Position:

As a Legal Servicing Specialist
, you will be the expert in navigating some of our most sensitive and high-impact financial situations. This position requires a strategic thinker and skilled communicator who can manage legal and compliance-heavy account scenarios with professionalism and care. You'll take ownership of high-risk and complex accounts involving bankruptcies, deceased members, legal actions (levies, garnishments), vehicle repossessions, and collateral recovery. Your day-to-day work will involve reviewing loan accounts, negotiating settlements, working closely with attorneys, trustees, and vendors, and making decisions that directly influence the financial well-being of our organization and its members.

This role demands independent judgment, thorough documentation, and a deep understanding of both legal processes and member impact. It's a critical position for someone who enjoys solving complex problems and making meaningful, informed decisions every day.

The successful candidate should have following skills/qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in business, finance or law preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in collections, legal recovery, or repossession services
  • Expert understanding of FDCPA, bankruptcy laws and repossession regulations
  • Strong communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Experience working with legal professionals, trustees, vendors and financial systems
  • Ability to analyze complex cases and take decisive, compliant actions
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and comfortable working independently on time-sensitive matters
Key Responsibilities:
  • End-to-end management of bankruptcy cases and deceased member accounts
  • File and track legal documentation, including Proof of Claims, reaffirmation agreements, and garnishments
  • Coordinate repossessions, auction pricing, and collateral recovery with third-party vendors
  • Make final decisions on collateral disposal strategies and charge-off readiness
  • Work closely with legal counsel and compliance teams to ensure all actions meet regulatory standards
  • Support and mentor Collections Specialists on legal procedures and best practices
  • Prepare monthly reports on charge-offs, legal filings, and recovery efforts
  • Maintain detailed records to support audits and ongoing compliance
