Job Overview
Road Machinery & Supplies Co. is searching for a Shop Supervisor to join its team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing shop service and repairs of heavy equipment in a profitable manner. With a high sense of urgency, the Shop Supervisor will be responsible for responding to customers in a timely and professional manner. This position works proactively and closely with service managers, shop technicians, field technicians, and customers to ensure that promises and expectations are being met in a timely manner.
The Shop Supervisor is also responsible for scheduling of technicians and equipment repairs in the field/shop, and may occasionally require field service.

- Lead the service team to ensure an efficient, safe, and profitable operation.
- Document incoming calls and assign jobs to technicians.
- Administer safety program and promote a culture of safety along with other supervisors.
- Manage work that is in process to meet deadlines and efficient billing.
- Administer proper invoicing procedures (customer account, customer COD, warranty, internal).
- Ensure work orders are created with the proper segment order and that technician parts and labor are on the correct segments, invoiced correctly to internal, warranty, or customer.
- Work with customers to define scope of work/repairs on their equipment.
- Create accurate service estimates for customers; obtain permission from customer for the original work requested; and advise customers on course of action in repairs.
- Handle all customer communications during the repairs, communicate warranty information, and address complaints.
- Assist technicians on complex diagnostic and repair issues.
- Manage technician productivity, assign work orders, schedule workload, and review timecards for technicians.
- Manage, coach, and mentor technicians.
- Recruit and hire technicians.
- Ensure technicians are trained properly through RMS internal and web‑based training.
- Complete fair and accurate yearly reviews with staff; provide appropriate improvement recommendations.
- Manage after‑hours calls with Service Manager.
- 2‑year technical degree preferred.
- 2+ years of technical or mechanical knowledge in heavy equipment.
- Aggregate equipment experience is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of warranty issues preferred.
- Able to work responsibly, safely, and intelligently.
- Have the desire to take action, improve, and be appreciative.
- Possess the capability to engage with customers, co‑workers, and vendors in a respectful manner.
