Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our team at Central Office. This full-time position is essential in promoting the health and well-being of our students and staff. The School Nurse will provide comprehensive health services, support health education initiatives, and collaborate with educators and families to foster a safe and healthy learning environment. A Professional Educator License (PEL) is required for this role.
Responsibilities- Assess and evaluate students' health needs through screenings and health assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students with chronic health conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring compliance with school policies and state regulations.
- Provide first aid and emergency care for students and staff as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to promote health education and awareness.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Conduct health education programs and workshops for students, staff, and families.
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases within the school community, including reporting to health authorities as necessary.
- Serve as a resource for health-related issues and provide guidance to students and families regarding health and wellness.
- Participate in school committees and initiatives focused on improving student health and safety.
- Stay updated on current health trends, state laws, and regulations related to school health services.
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with a school nurse endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state.
- Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing preferred.
- Strong knowledge of child development, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in school health.
This is a full-time equivalent position. Starting pay is $38/hour.
