AboutThe Role
The Quad Cities International Airport is looking for an eager applicant for the Airport Police and Fire Officer position. Under the direction of the Airport Police and Fire Chief, the Airport Police and Fire Officer provides police protection and aircraft fire suppression and rescue services for the Quad Cities International Airport. The Airport Police and Fire Officer position is 24 hours on, 48 hours off.

- Must be a certified Police Officer in the State of Illinois or have the ability to obtain a waiver from ILETSB based on previous training and experience in another state.
- Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to pass a post-employment offer physical examinations, including respirator test and drug screen.
- Ability to pass a police background check.
- Ability to pass a background investigation to obtain unescorted Airport Identification Access privileges.
- Ability to operate a vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED.
- EMS, firefighter or law enforcement background beneficial.
- Knowledge of FAA and TSA regulations that affect airport security and ARFF requirements and state, federal and local regulations regarding police powers and firefighter methods.
- Ability to learn and apply airport policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols relating to the protection and security of the airport.
- Ability to use handheld and ground radios to effectively communicate and report physical location at all times.
- Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and initiative in a wide variety of situations within established guidelines.
- Ability to act quickly and appropriately in emergencies and regarding suspicious situations and potential threats to people and property.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate records and reports.
- Ability to work effectively and courteously with all levels of management, supervisors, staff, visitors, officials and other agencies, emergency personnel and others encountered in the course of work.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
