Job Overview
Johnson Controls is a global leader in thermal management and building systems. We are seeking HVAC Mechanics to support our fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. This role offers the opportunity to work with light and heavy commercial teams and advance through our Service Technical Academy.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems, including light commercial and heavy commercial equipment.
- Partner with Journeymen to repair centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers and ammonia systems.
- Provide high‑level customer service, diagnose and repair HVACR systems, and support commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Recommend and provide solutions to enhance facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities and creating quotes.
- Assist in training servicemen and apprentices, providing on‑the‑job instruction when needed.
- Travel 10%–20% of the time to branch customers for troubleshooting, installation and repair.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA).
- Minimum eight (8) years of commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting experience, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Ability to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and ammonia or hydrocarbon system components.
- Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification and Universal EPA refrigerants license.
- Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Applicable state or local licensing and a valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication skills for writing and customer problem solutions, quoting, and participation in service programs.

Hourly rate $46.50, determined by CBA/rate sheet. The posted salary range reflects target compensation; exceptional candidates may be considered beyond the range.
