Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in agricultural floral design that develop skills, knowledge, and competencies aligned with state standards and industry expectations. Prepare students for careers and postsecondary opportunities in floral design, horticulture, and agricultural sciences while fostering leadership through Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), including FFA.
Qualifications Education/Certification- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources certification
- Floral design industry certification preferred
- CDL certification or ability to obtain CDL preferred, if required for transporting students
- Knowledge of floral design principles, horticulture, plant science, and agricultural education
- Ability to develop and implement engaging hands‑on instruction
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to supervise student activities and projects safely
- Knowledge of FFA programs, competitions, and leadership development
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and technology skills
- Student teaching or classroom teaching experience preferred
- Experience in floral design, greenhouse management, or agricultural industry preferred
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill state curriculum requirements and reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles
- Teach courses related to floral design, horticulture, plant science, and related agricultural topics
- Provide hands‑on instruction in floral arrangement techniques, plant care, and design principles
- Prepare students for industry certifications and competitions
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and materials to support student learning
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback
- Encourage student participation in FFA and other leadership activities
- Sponsor and supervise students participating in competitions, shows, and events
- Support students in developing career readiness and employability skills
- Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed for a productive learning environment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe floral design lab/classroom
- Manage inventory, supplies, tools, and equipment used in floral design instruction
- Ensure compliance with all district and safety regulations
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Assist with planning and promoting the agricultural education program
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, certifications, and inventories
- Participate in professional development activities to improve instructional skills and stay current with industry trends
- Assist with fundraising activities and community outreach programs as needed
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Supervise assigned teacher aide(s), student teachers, and students participating in classroom and extracurricular activities.

Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Frequent walking; repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; overhead reaching
Lifting:
Frequent heavy lifting (45 pounds and over); may lift and move agriculture equipment and animals
Environment:
Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, and inclement weather), humidity, and prolonged sunlight; exposure to biological hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on uneven or slippery surfaces; work around animals; may work alone; frequent district wide and statewide travel
