- 8+ years of field engineering, construction, startup, or commissioning experience supporting rotating equipment on utility-scale power generation projects.
- Experience with the installation, inspection, startup, and commissioning of large industrial gas turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, and associated auxiliary systems.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with experience supporting equipment alignment, vibration analysis, operational testing, and commissioning readiness.
- Previous experience supporting GE gas turbine installation and commissioning projects is strongly preferred; experience with GE 7HA turbines is considered a plus.
We are seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Field Engineer for a simple-cycle natural gas power generation project located in West Texas. The Rotating Equipment Field Engineer is responsible for supporting the installation, inspection, testing, and startup of rotating equipment to ensure all systems meet project objectives and requirements. This role includes providing technical field support for gas turbines, generators, and associated auxiliary equipment while coordinating with construction, engineering, OEM representatives, and commissioning teams throughout project execution.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Provide field engineering support for the installation, inspection, startup, and commissioning of rotating equipment and associated auxiliary systems.
- Monitor equipment installation activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with engineering drawings, OEM recommendations, project specifications, and applicable industry standards.
- Coordinate activities with contractors, OEM representatives, construction management, engineering, and commissioning personnel to support project execution.
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment specifications, vendor documentation, installation procedures, and technical manuals to support field activities.
- Support equipment inspections, shaft alignment, vibration monitoring, precision measurements, flushing activities, and operational testing.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) as required, support equipment inspections, document punch items, and assist with the resolution of shipping, receiving, and equipment deficiency (OS&D) issues.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions throughout construction and startup activities.
- Support mechanical completion activities, punch list resolution, turnover documentation, and commissioning readiness efforts.
- Strong understanding of rotating equipment installation, operation, and maintenance principles.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, specifications, and OEM technical documentation.
- Experience supporting construction, startup, and commissioning activities on utility-scale power generation or industrial projects.
- Working knowledge of shaft alignment, vibration monitoring, precision measurement techniques, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards, OEM recommendations, and mechanical installation best practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline project environment.
- Previous experience supporting GE gas turbine projects is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience supporting rotating equipment on utility-scale power generation or industrial projects.
- Previous field engineering, construction, startup, or commissioning experience required.
- Experience supporting the installation and commissioning of GE heavy-duty gas turbines is strongly preferred; experience with GE 7HA turbine projects is considered a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- OEM training, Vibration Institute certification, or equivalent rotating equipment reliability training is considered a plus.
