This position typically performs basic administrative tasks; and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees and citizens.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Transports all library materials and mail among library locations and affiliated offices on a regular basis.
  • Sorts, packs, and loads deliveries properly and follows an established schedule to ensure timely transport.
  • Transports the mobile computer lab between library locations according to where classes for the public are being held.
  • Transport recyclable materials to the recycling center from the library.
  • Take documents for shredding to the Records Management Department.
  • Cleans and fuels the library van and ensures it is taken to the county’s vehicle maintenance garage for scheduled maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • One (1) year of related administrative experience;
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license for South Carolina with safe driving record;
  • Departmental testing may be administered during interview;
  • A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of excellent customer service.
  • Skill in handling multiple priorities and organizing workload; sorting mail with accuracy and speed, operating mail office equipment, and making simple mathematical computations.
  • Ability to maintain and secure confidential materials.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to manage inventory and property.
  • Ability to use small office equipment.

This position requires the employee to sit and use hands to handle or operate objects; and reach with hands and arms; walk, talk and hear; sit and stand for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work is regularly performed in a relatively safe, secure and stable work environment.
This position will not exceed twenty-nine (29) hours per week. Normal schedule is twenty (20) hours per week between the hours of 9:00am and 7:00pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00am and 5:00pm Friday and Saturday. Scheduled hours/days, job location, duties and any other information contained herein is subject to change. May be required to work extra hours and to perform extra or different duties during emergency situations.
