In-office, full-time position for Moncks Corner, SC or Sparta, NC. This role is responsible for designing roof and floor truss systems that meet project specifications, building codes, and structural requirements. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing architectural drawings and construction documents, creating detailed truss layouts, and using MiTek software to generate accurate designs and material lists. The designer will coordinate with sales, production, and engineering teams to clarify requirements, resolve design challenges, and support efficient manufacturing.
The role also involves communicating with customers and contractors to answer design questions, provide technical support, and ensure timely, accurate project delivery.
- 3 years of Roof and Floor truss design experience
- I-Joist design experience is a plus
- Remote designers will not be considered. Please do not apply if remote.
- Strong knowledge of truss design and related structural components, including experience working with Truss and Timber systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply Architectural Drawings and construction plans to create accurate truss layouts.
- Understanding of Structural Engineering principles relevant to wood truss design, load paths, and building code compliance.
- Customer Service skills to collaborate effectively with builders, contractors, and internal teams and address technical inquiries.
- Proficiency with MiTek SE design software.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Compensation based on experience (hourly pay with overtime)
