Position: Teacher of the Deaf in Moncks Corner, SC

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications

and Experience
  • Valid certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing Education or Special Education (as required by state standards)
  • Previous classroom or instructional experience with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and auditory/oral communication approaches
  • Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with general educators, related service providers, and families
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities
  • Adaptability and creativity in modifying curriculum and classroom activities
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf / Hard of Hearing, in individual, small-group, or classroom settings
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Use a variety of communication methodologies, including ASL, cued speech, or technology as appropriate
  • Collaborate regularly with school personnel and families to ensure comprehensive student support
  • Monitor student progress and prepare data for progress reports and meetings
  • Advocate for services, accommodations, and assistive technology to promote student success
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities as needed
