Location: Moncks Corner, SC 29461

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

Schedule: 37.5 hours per week

School Year: July 27, 2026 – May 27, 2027

Starting Pay: $50/hour (based on experience)

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students in the Moncks Corner, South Carolina area for the 2026–2027 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to empower students with visual impairments by helping them develop the academic, functional, and independent living skills needed to thrive in the classroom and beyond.

Position Details
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • School Year:
    July 27, 2026 – May 27, 2027
  • Serving students in Kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Approximate caseload of 18 students
  • Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and specialized instruction
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and consultative vision services to students with visual impairments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and vision-related goals.
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and learning media assessments as appropriate.
  • Adapt instructional materials into accessible formats, including Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology.
  • Teach compensatory skills, assistive technology, orientation to educational materials, and independent living skills as needed.
  • Consult with teachers, staff, and families regarding accommodations and strategies to support student success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Education of the Visually Impaired, or a related field.
  • Valid South Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and specialized instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
