Position Overview

Birch Agency is actively seeking passionate and dedicated Resource/Co-Teaching Special Education Teachers for multiple openings throughout Berkeley County, South Carolina
.

These positions provide the opportunity to support students with disabilities in inclusive educational environments through collaborative teaching and targeted intervention services. We are seeking educators who are committed to helping students achieve academic success while fostering independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in the general education setting.

Current Opportunities

Resource/Co-Teaching Special Education Teacher

Caseload: Approximately 33 students

Curriculum: General Education Curriculum

6 Roles Available With The Following Grade Levels

  • Grades K-5
  • Grades K-5
  • Grades 6-8
  • Grades 9-12
  • Grades 9-12
  • Grades 9-12

These positions support students receiving special education services within resource and inclusive classroom settings through a collaborative co-teaching model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on students' unique needs.
  • Provide specialized instruction and academic interventions in resource and inclusive classroom settings.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to plan, deliver, and adapt instruction through a co-teaching model.
  • Modify curriculum, assignments, instructional strategies, and assessments to support student success.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
  • Support students in accessing grade-level curriculum through accommodations and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and strategies that promote student engagement and achievement.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.
  • Active South Carolina Special Education certification required or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Experience providing resource services, inclusion support, or co-teaching in a school setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of IEP development, special education compliance, differentiated instruction, accommodations, and behavior management strategies.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary educational team.
