Water Permitting Engineer – Environmental Utilities

We’re supporting a major utility provider in hiring an experienced Environmental Engineer to lead water, wastewater, and stormwater permitting efforts across the state. If you enjoy meaningful work, cross‑functional collaboration, and helping projects meet environmental standards, this role offers a chance to make a real impact.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage environmental permitting for wastewater, stormwater, and water‑related projects
  • Prepare, submit, track, renew, and close out permits
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Conduct front‑end environmental due diligence and coordinate Phase I ESAs
  • Support species/habitat reviews, cultural resource surveys, and environmental constraints analyses
  • Assist with NEPA and state‑level environmental review processes
  • Prepare and review environmental drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Perform site assessments, field inspections, and data analysis
  • Develop technical reports and maintain organized compliance records
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, operations, legal, and regulatory agencies
  • Advise teams on environmental impacts, mitigation measures, and permitting requirements
  • Support scopes of work, bid documents, and monitoring programs
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or related ABET‑accredited field
  • 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater permitting
  • Strong knowledge of NEPA, South Carolina regulations, and federal/state/local permitting processes
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
Preferred:

PE license

Compensation:

$95,000/yr to $140,000/yr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
