Position: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Responsibilities

  • Perform transmission planning studies including power flow, short‑circuit, and system stability analysis to evaluate system performance and recommend capital construction projects to ensure reliability and economic expansion of the transmission system to meet future load growth.
  • Evaluate interconnection project requests to ensure system reliability meets national and regional requirements as well as internal planning criteria. Prepare and deliver verbal and written reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define transmission facility requirements and project scope within Budget Item Requests (BIR) to initiate or recommend capital construction projects.
  • Conduct transmission impact evaluations and provide recommendations to support corporate resource‑planning needs.
  • Maintain and update transmission system models.
  • Carry out additional transmission studies required by NERC reliability standards or requested by stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other utilities to address local, regional, and inter‑regional transmission planning needs.
  • Prepare detailed written reports such as NERC compliance reports, annual ten‑year transmission plans, and summaries of internal transmission studies.
  • Present study results and recommendations to executive management, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in planning activities and discussions with neighboring systems and regional entities.
  • Attend meetings and engage in discussions of future system plans to meet the needs of the utility’s wholesale, industrial, and retail customers.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation software (PSSE, TARA, Power World, CAPE, Aspen) is highly preferred.
Qualifications
  • Senior Engineer:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET‑accredited institution, +8 years of experience, and a PE license required.
  • Engineer III:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET‑accredited institution, +5 years of experience, and an FE license required.
  • Engineer II:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET‑accredited institution, +2 years of experience, and an FE license preferred.
  • Engineer I:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET‑accredited institution, FE license preferred.
Salary
  • Senior Engineer: $104,620 – $130,770 (minimum to mid‑range).
  • Engineer III: $93,830 – $117,290 (minimum to mid‑range).
  • Engineer II: $84,180 – $105,210 (minimum to mid‑range).
  • Engineer I: $75,500 – $94,350 (minimum to mid‑range).
