We are seeking a detail-oriented Facility Rating & Database Specialist to support the Transmission Planning organization by maintaining accurate transmission facility rating data and ensuring compliance with NERC FAC-008 standards.
This role will serve as the primary owner of facility rating data, ensuring engineering databases accurately reflect field conditions, equipment changes, and approved engineering documentation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining system reliability, supporting regulatory compliance, and improving the efficiency of the engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities Database Management- Maintain transmission facility rating databases with accurate and timely updates.
- Enter, review, and validate equipment and asset changes following engineering modifications.
- Ensure all transmission asset data is complete, accurate, and properly documented.
- Perform routine quality assurance reviews to identify and correct data discrepancies.
- Maintain facility ratings for Bulk Electric System (BES) assets.
- Ensure ratings accurately reflect the most limiting element in accordance with NERC FAC-008 requirements.
- Update facility ratings following equipment replacements, modifications, or engineering studies.
- Coordinate rating changes with Transmission Planning and Engineering teams.
- Support compliance with NERC FAC-008 and applicable FERC requirements.
- Maintain documentation supporting facility ratings and engineering assumptions.
- Prepare records for internal reviews and external regulatory audits.
- Assist in developing standardized processes for facility rating management.
- Review engineering drawings, construction documentation, and equipment records to validate database accuracy.
- Perform field verification or coordinate with field personnel to ensure installed equipment matches database records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between field conditions and engineering databases.
- Collaborate with Transmission Planning, Engineering, Operations, Asset Management, and Field Services.
- Support engineering staff by providing accurate facility data for planning studies and system modeling.
- Recommend improvements to database management processes and data quality controls.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, GIS, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in the electric utility, transmission, or power systems industry.
- Experience maintaining technical databases or asset management systems.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent data management skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment records, and technical documentation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of NERC FAC-008 requirements.
- Experience with transmission facility ratings.
- Experience with GIS, EMS, or utility asset management databases.
- Familiarity with transmission planning or transmission operations.
- Experience supporting regulatory compliance or internal audits.
- Understanding of transmission line and substation equipment.
