Experienced Rub Rail Technician

Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
(Actual pay offered will be based on experience, skill level, and qualifications.)

Position Summary

Sea Fox Boats is seeking an experienced Rub Rail Technician to join our production team. This position is responsible for measuring, fitting, installing, and finishing rub rail systems on newly manufactured boats while ensuring proper alignment, secure attachment, and a clean, professional finished appearance. The ideal candidate has marine manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and takes pride in producing high-quality finished boats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install rub rail systems, inserts, hardware, fasteners, and related components according to production specifications.
  • Measure, position, and align rub rail components to ensure proper fit and consistent appearance around the boat.
  • Cut, shape, bend, and fit rub rail materials as required for specific boat models.
  • Drill and secure rub rail components using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
  • Ensure rub rail transitions, corners, joints, and ends are properly fitted and finished.
  • Apply appropriate adhesives, sealants, and bonding materials as required.
  • Inspect completed rub rail installations for proper alignment, attachment, finish, and overall appearance.
  • Identify and correct installation issues, defects, gaps, or inconsistencies before completion.
  • Follow work instructions, production procedures, and quality standards.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and other production equipment.
  • Maintain an organized work area and follow all safety requirements.
  • Communicate material shortages, quality concerns, or production issues to leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with other production team members to maintain workflow and meet production goals.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in marine manufacturing, boat building, boat assembly, or a similar marine production environment is required.
  • Previous experience installing rub rail, trim, marine hardware, fiberglass components, or related boat assemblies is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to complete detailed installation and finishing work.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, drill, and secure components according to specifications.
  • Ability to work with flexible and rigid materials while maintaining proper alignment and finished appearance.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, diagrams, and production requirements.
  • Experience safely operating hand tools, power tools, cutting tools, and installation equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship and finished appearance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot installation issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a production team.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to meet production schedules.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a marine manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass materials, adhesives, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be comfortable working around boats, production equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements required for cutting, fitting, drilling, and installation tasks.
  • Ability to safely work with components installed at various heights and positions.
  • Must follow required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
