Humans of HR is partnering with a well‑established organization to recruit a Senior Labour Relations Manager & Chief Negotiator.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced labour relations leader to take ownership of collective bargaining strategy, labour‑management relations, and complex workplace matters within a unionized environment. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you'll play a key role in shaping labour relations strategy, guiding negotiations, and fostering productive relationships across the organization.

The successful candidate will bring robust experience in collective bargaining, grievance management, dispute resolution, and stakeholder engagement, along with the ability to influence outcomes in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities Collective Bargaining & Negotiations
  • Serve as the organization's lead negotiator and primary advisor on collective bargaining initiatives.
  • Develop negotiation strategies, bargaining proposals, and supporting analysis.
  • Lead negotiation preparation activities and provide strategic guidance throughout the bargaining process.
  • Support the implementation and communication of negotiated agreements.
  • Monitor labour trends, legislation, and market developments to inform negotiation strategy.
Labour Relations Leadership
  • Provide expert guidance on collective agreement interpretation and administration.
  • Lead complex labour relations matters, including grievance management, dispute resolution, and arbitration preparation.
  • Build and maintain constructive working relationships with union representatives and key stakeholders.
  • Identify emerging labour relations risks and develop proactive solutions.
Employee & Workplace Relations
  • Advise leaders on employee relations matters, workplace investigations, performance management, and progressive discipline.
  • Support fair, consistent, and compliant workplace practices.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on effective labour and employee relations strategies.
Strategic Partnership
  • Partner closely with senior leaders to align workforce strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Support change initiatives, workforce planning efforts, and organisational effectiveness programs.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on matters impacting workforce performance and employee engagement.
Organisational Effectiveness
  • Analyse workforce trends and labour relations metrics to support informed decision‑making.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of people practices, policies, and processes.
  • Support initiatives that enhance leadership capability and workplace culture.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, Law, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive labour relations experience within a unionised environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading or supporting collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Strong experience in grievance administration, collective agreement interpretation, investigations, and dispute resolution.
  • Comprehensive understanding of labour legislation and labour relations best practices.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build credibility across all levels of an organization.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Experience supporting complex operational environments is strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving as chief spokesperson, lead negotiator, or senior member of a bargaining team.
  • CPHR, MIR, JD, or other relevant professional designation.
