The role

We have an existing vacancy in our HR Compliance team, a specialized group focused on employment legislation analysis and interpretation. This team uses HR compliance expertise to track employment-related legislative changes and translate them into clear, practical guidance for employers. They also review content created by others for legislative accuracy, HR best practices, and established company standards. This is not a generalist HR role and is best suited to individuals with experience in HR compliance, employment law, or labour relations.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze federal and provincial employment and labour legislation for changes that impact clients.
  • Interpret legislative changes to determine required updates to existing HR compliance content or the need for current content.
  • Translate complex legislative and regulatory requirements into clear, employer-focused guidance.
  • Draft, update, and maintain HR compliance content including policies, templates, letters, forms, and news updates.
  • Conduct maintenance reviews of existing content to ensure ongoing legislative accuracy and compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Apply established legislative interpretation standards and content creation guidelines consistently.
  • Review new or updated HR and compliance content created by others for legislative accuracy, risk alignment, and clarity, in alignment with established company standards.
Qualifications
  • Own HR compliance across federal and provincial employment legislation in Canada, proactively tracking changes and turning them into clear, practical guidance that can be applied consistently across different workplaces and jurisdictions.
  • Have direct experience working with employment legislation, HR compliance, or labour relations in Canada.
  • Translate complex legislative requirements into accurate, employer-focused content, applying sound judgment while keeping guidance straightforward, practical, and easy to apply.
  • Draft, update, and maintain HR compliance content such as policies, templates, letters, forms, and legislative updates, with a strong focus on clarity, consistency, and usability.
  • Review compliance content created by others, ensuring legislative accuracy, clarity and alignment with established standards, and continuously look for ways to improve quality and ease of use.
  • Be confident interpreting legislation updates and applying them to real workplace scenarios.
  • Apply strong judgement and be comfortable making interpretive decisions where legislation may be ambiguous or evolving.
  • Leverage modern tools and technologies, including AI, to support research, content development, and efficiency, while maintaining accountability for accuracy and interpretation.
  • Work independently, manage priorities effectively, and collaborate with internal teams by supporting compliance inquiries, escalations and cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Understand the boundaries of the role, providing compliance guidance without offering legal advice, while supporting and mentoring peers when appropriate.
