Truck & Transport Mechanic – Heavy Duty
Location: Woodstock, New Brunswick
We are hiring Truck & Transport Mechanics to join a large, well-established in-house fleet maintenance facility supporting a modern operation with 250 trucks and 800+ trailers. This is a long-term opportunity offering steady work, clear pay progression, multiple shifts, and strong benefits.
The shop is a heated, 18-bay facility
, operating nearly year-round with consistent workflow and a strong safety culture. You’ll work alongside experienced mechanics, apprentices, and a fully staffed parts and service team in a professional, well-organized environment.
- Work Schedules (For experienced Journey persons, alternate shifts may be discussed):
- Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Monday to Friday: 6:00 PM – 2:30 AM
- 0–2 years (Apprentice – min. Block
1): $18–$20/hour - 2–5 years (Experience or Block 1–3): $20–$26/hour
- 5+ years (Journeyperson): $25–$30/hour
- 10+ years (Senior / Lead): $30–$36/hour
- Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, steering, suspension, and exhaust systems
- Complete annual safety inspections and ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain accurate service records and work orders
- Identify safety issues and recommend corrective actions
- Road test vehicles before and after repairs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Collaborate with operations and dispatch to minimize downtime
- Journeyperson certification preferred or minimum 2 years of heavy-duty truck/trailer experience
- Valid provincial driver’s license
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
- Experience with electronic diagnostic tools
- Own basic mechanical tools and toolbox
- Knowledge of DOT, CVIP, and safety compliance standards
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces
- Comfortable working in a shop environment with noise and varying temperatures
