Maintenance, Mining, Shutdown, Heavy Duty Mechanic

Matrix Camps and Logistics is seeking experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics to join their maintenance team for winter ice road operations in remote camps at Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut. This role involves maintaining and repairing a diverse surface fleet in challenging northern conditions, with a unique 3-weeks on/3-weeks off rotation. The ideal candidate is a Red Seal or Journeyperson mechanic with strong mining equipment experience and a commitment to safety and quality.

• Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic certification
• 3–5 years of mining equipment care and maintenance experience (minimum)
• Demonstrated experience maintaining surface fleet equipment (loaders, dozers, excavators, graders, Snow Cats, haul trucks, light/heavy duty trucks)
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and electrical systems (12V/24V/480V)
• Proficiency with CAT ET and CAT SIS
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and manufacturer service manuals
• Valid safety training/certifications as required (e.g., WHMIS, LOTO, confined space)
• Experience working in remote and northern/cold weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license (if required by location)

• Experience with CMMS/computerized maintenance systems
• Track record of reducing downtime through preventive maintenance and root cause problem solving
• Experience with major component repairs/rebuilds (hydraulic pumps/motors, gearboxes, drive components, etc.)
