Deckhand

Deckhand (Full Time)
Company: ACNR River Towing, Inc.
Location: Monessen, PA

This position is located primarily in Benwood, WV (Ohio County Coal Resources) and Moundsville, WV (Marshall County Coal Resources). The selected employee would report to Monessen, PA, then be shuttled to the operating station. We are seeking hard‑working, motivated individuals. This position is responsible for all daily operations of barges and vessels.

PA/WV/OH

• Adhere to all company policies
• Follow company safety guidelines
• Make and deliver the tow
• Check the fleet (lines, cables, hatches, and water)
• Retrieve and place lanterns
• Perform pre‑operational checks
• Clean the vessel
• General maintenance of pumps, hoses, wires, and lanterns
• Perform general repairs as needed
• Follow directions
• Be able to visually inspect
• Work around operating equipment
• Utilize eye/hand coordination
• Use and knowledge of hand tools
• Work well in a team environment
• Operate machinery
• Make decisions in high‑pressure situations, safely

No experience required

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School Diploma or GED, preferred
• Reliable transportation
• Regular and punctual attendance
• Effective communication is required
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), required
• Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
• Must be able to successfully pass a post‑offer drug test and background check
• Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship

• Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed or as schedule requires (subject to applicants religious practices)
• Must be able to work 7 days a week with 12‑hour shifts (6 hours on/6 hours off); (subject to the applicants religious practices)
• Ability/willingness to work any shift assigned
• Ability to lift floor‑to‑waist and waist‑to‑overhead
• Ability to push/pull as needed
• Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
• Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as needed
