Factory Order Writer

Position Summary:

Entry-level role that leads into FO Technician II and other Engineering positions as experience is gained.

• Order entry – understand and follow order entry processes and procedures.
• Retrieve product and process related information to perform job‑related duties.
• Generate high‑quality production documents that are complete and accurate using AutoCAD, ERP or other applicable tools.

• High school education or equivalent (preferred).
• 1+ year industry experience working with fabrication/assembly of window, curtain wall and/or storefront products.
• Formal AutoCAD training or equivalent software proficiency.
• 1+ year experience designing and drafting commercial or residential window, curtain wall or storefront products.

• Effective verbal and written communication, including the ability to identify issues and notify the project lead.
• Ability to navigate shop drawings, whether internally produced or customer supplied.
• Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of algebra and geometry.
• Attention to detail and focus on providing accurate information to internal and external customers.
• Ability to visualize in 3‑D and develop a deep understanding of architectural metals products and processes.
• Can work independently or as part of a team, managing tasks efficiently and working quickly and accurately.
• Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.

• AutoCAD – preferred.
• ERP/Configurator tools.
• Acrobat and editing software.
• SharePoint workflow.
• Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office applications.

Primarily an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor. Occasional travel to other sites or corporate locations may be required.

Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments; lift up to 10 lbs.
