Job Overview
Manufacturing Engineer – responsible for optimizing production processes, ensuring efficient and cost‑effective manufacturing of food products while maintaining strict food safety and quality standards. The role is 100% onsite at our Monett, MO manufacturing facility and requires collaboration with cross‑functional teams such as Production Operations, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, Controls Engineering, Operations Excellence, and Supply Chain.
Responsibilities- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify improvements in efficiency, productivity, process capability, risk, and cost reduction.
- Design and implement improvements to enhance yield, reduce waste, increase throughput, improve cycle times, reduce bottlenecks, and streamline operations.
- Collaborate with Operations Excellence and Data Science/Analytics teams to leverage data for process optimization.
- Partner with Maintenance and Reliability Engineering to ensure equipment uptime and reliability, integrating predictive maintenance strategies.
- Lead or assist in the development of new equipment installations or modifications, from concept to commissioning.
- Utilize data analysis and statistical techniques to identify bottlenecks, process variability, and areas for improvement.
- Implement data‑driven solutions to increase overall efficiency while mitigating operational risk.
- Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential failure points, risks, and weaknesses in processes and equipment.
- Develop strategies to reduce operational risk and enhance process reliability, working closely with Reliability Engineering.
- Define and own manufacturing process control plans, set up in‑process measurement systems, and complete GR&R activities.
- Set up process monitoring and trending, including SPC of critical parameters, and perform process capability studies.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in selection and evaluation of equipment, tools, and materials to ensure optimal performance and cost‑effectiveness.
- Partner with Controls Engineering to leverage automation and digitalization opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans and customer requirements.
- Interpret and communicate customer requirements to plant production and support groups.
- Establish and audit PCPs, CCPs, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical or any engineering related field).
- 2–5 years of engineering experience.
- Experience with in the food industry or a related field is a plus.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality management systems (HACCP, GMP, FDA) or ability to learn.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Collaborative approach and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Relocation bonus: $10,000 plus a generous relocation package for moves over 50 miles.
