MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – JBS Live Pork Midwestern Region, Various Illinois Locations
Position starts at $22+ DOE, hourly.
DescriptionJBS is seeking an hourly Maintenance team member!
Essential Functions- Responsible for all corrective repairs of the site(s).
- Responsible for following a preventive maintenance program.
- Perform all required duties in a timely manner as outlined in the S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Complete all paperwork associated with the job (turn in receipts, request for time off, etc.).
- Learn all environmental settings to keep them running as expected.
- Identify problems during inspections and while repairing; fill a maintenance work order and submit to the Production Manager.
- Maintain accountability for Tri Oak Foods tools and equipment (including vehicle if provided).
- Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times.
- Keep communication device (phone) for major emergencies.
- Report timely to site of work; be prepared to take lunch break at site of work.
- Accept all other responsibilities assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety and biosecurity.
- Effectively communicate and work together with co‑workers and site managers to promote teamwork and safety.
- Have knowledge of proper and safe use of a variety of power tools.
- Complete tasks time‑efficiently.
- Participate as an active member of the production team.
- Be receptive to constructive criticism by co‑workers and supervisors.
- Use and respect all safety procedures and equipment.
- Conduct work within Tri Oak Foods bio‑security guidelines.
- Be insurable.
- Understand and demonstrate safe work habits.
- Follow instructions from a manual.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and repair heater and electrical problems.
- Understand pumps and plumbing systems.
- Work independently on all mechanical systems.
- Have welding experience.
- Knowledge of electrical testing procedures.
- Knowledge of environmental controllers and their functions.
- Demonstrate mechanical ability.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 lbs; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs; sometimes push, pull, and help move up to and occasionally exceed 350 lbs. Must have depth perception, ability to adjust and focus, discern colors, and appreciate fine detail.
- Capable of repeated actions.
- Able to run hand and power tools.
- Responsive to verbal alarms and animal sounds.
- Able to communicate and understand oral and written English.
- Walk and stand for long periods on different surfaces including concrete.
- Climb in and out of crates and over obstacles.
- Climb ladders and able to get in and out of semi cabs.
- Maintain balance on all surfaces.
- Must not own or live near any swine; must not live with anyone who has contact with swine.
- Retain and perform written and spoken instructions.
- Minimum 6 months experience in maintenance.
- Summer months temperatures can exceed 100°F for entire scheduled work day.
- Winter months temperatures can fall below zero for entire scheduled work day.
- During and after heavy rains, roads around the farms can become extremely muddy and difficult to maneuver.
- Noise inside or outside barns can become very high in decibels; hearing protection is mandatory when indicated.
- Daily exposure to odors, dusts, and gases that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if proper procedures are not followed.
- Exposure to electrical boxes and machinery that are not to be entered or repaired by those not certified in basic electrical training and/or lock‑out/tag‑out.
- Daily exposure to procedures that involve contact with hazardous materials.
