Under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Concession Stand Attendant is responsible for greeting patrons and guests in a friendly and courteous manner, daily maintenance and upkeep of the concession stand facility, accepting concession payments, and distributing food and beverage orders to customers at the City of Monona's Below Deck Concession Stand in Grand Crossing Park. The following duties are normal for the position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.
- Open and close the stand at designated times.
- Take concession orders; prepare, store and serve food in accordance with established health regulations; assist in maintaining order while individuals wait to purchase admissions and/or concessions.
- Operate cash register; accept payments and make accurate change.
- Operate concession equipment, appliances and utensils; ensure that equipment and utensils are in proper working order.
- Perform general cleaning of the concession stand.
- Perform outdoor cleaning and maintenance as necessary (picking up litter, washing outdoor tables and chairs, pulling weeds).
- Attend staff meetings and participate in employee training sessions as required.
- Provide direction in the event of an emergency.
- Provide verbal and written reports to the recreation supervisor and maintenance crew.
- Report acts of vandalism and/or equipment needing repair.
- Must be at least 14 years of age.
- Must have experience in cash handling, including knowledge of basic addition and subtraction.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to withstand frequent standing.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize proper telephone etiquette.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with the general public and staff.
- Must have the ability to operate a cash register and various food preparation machines.
