Child Care Assistant – Monroe Early Learning Center

Reporting

Reports to:

Dawn Ryan, Director of MELC

Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day activities at a preschool and daycare.
  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Develop academic programs.
  • Maintain rapport with parents.
  • Work with teachers to maintain high curriculum standards, professional attire, and attitude.
  • Establish performance goals and objectives.
  • Provide answers to procedural questions for the director.
  • Visit classrooms and observe teaching methods.
  • Examine learning materials.
  • Review instructional objectives and adjust accordingly.
  • Meet with other administrators to maintain preschool and daycare guidelines.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Job‑related experience required.
  • Demonstrate aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Skills:

    Operate standard office equipment, follow instructional lead, and work with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge:
    Concepts of grammar and punctuation; business telephone etiquette; common office machines.
  • Abilities:
    Be on time, maintain professional appearance, work with diverse groups and data, problem‑solving, prioritize, work as part of a team, work with interruptions.
Certifications & Testing

No required testing. Preference for candidates who are certified in CPR, have Epi Pen training, or are qualified to administer medicine.

Work Environment

Physical demands include lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity. Typical employment: 80% standing, 10% walking, 10% sitting. Exposure to risk of injury and/or illness may occur.

FLSA Status & Compensation

Exempt, hourly wage based on experience.
