Special Education Para educator – 30 hrs – Masuk – 3 positions – Job
Job DescriptionSupport role providing assistance to instructional programs within assigned classrooms, supervising and supporting special needs students in various learning environments including regular classrooms, resource rooms, and self‑contained settings. Responsibilities include implementing classroom plans, monitoring behavior, providing instructional support, and ensuring student safety.
Essential Functions- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials under teacher direction to reinforce classroom objectives.
- Administer tests, homework, make‑up work, and other tasks to support teachers.
- Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene needs.
- Communicate with instructional staff and support personnel to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
- Implement behavioral plans supervised by teachers for students with behavior disorders.
- Maintain instructional materials and electronic records to meet mandated requirements.
- Monitor students in various school environments (e.g., recess, arts, physical education, playground, cafeteria, bus loading, vocational program) to maintain a safe environment.
- Provide instruction under supervision of the teacher in individual and group activities, reinforcing instructional objectives and implementing IEP plans.
- Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health professional.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
- Attend meetings and in‑service workshops to acquire or convey information relative to job functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient work unit functioning.
Includes additional tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Adhere to safety practices and use standard office equipment and software applications.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Perform basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios).
- Use English language and grammar properly; read manuals; write documents; present information; understand complex instructions.
- Understand movement, medical equipment, instructional procedures, age‑appropriate student activities, safety practices, conflict resolution, stages of child development and behavior.
- Communicate effectively with diverse groups of children and staff; maintain confidentiality; set priorities; work as part of a team; handle frequent interruptions.
- Collate data, schedule activities, and use basic job‑related equipment.
- Show flexibility to work with others in various circumstances; solve problems and create action plans.
Work under direct supervision of the teacher. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required. Continual opportunity to impact organization’s services.
Working EnvironmentPhysical demands include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Work performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury or illness in a clean environment.
ExperienceJob‑related experience desired.
EducationTargeted job‑related education that meets prerequisites. High school diploma or completed college coursework or Para Pro Assessment desired.
Continuing Education / TrainingCPR/Heimlich.
ClearancesCriminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Salary RangeGrade One.
