Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, or multi‑axis machines
- Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Load and edit CNC programs using G‑code and CAM software
- Select tooling, fixtures, feeds, and speeds for optimal machining performance
- Perform first‑piece inspections and in‑process quality checks
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime
- Maintain tight tolerances and high‑quality surface finishes
- Monitor production runs and adjust machine offsets as needed
- Train and mentor junior machinists and machine operators
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on process improvements
- Perform preventive maintenance and maintain clean, safe work areas
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Document setups, inspections, and production data accurately
- High school diploma or GED; technical/trade school required.
- 7+ years of CNC machining experience
- Advanced experience with CNC mills.
- Strong understanding of G‑code, tooling, and machining principles
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMM equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Experience with multi‑axis machining
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge
- Work is performed in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, coolants, and lubricants
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel‑toe boots, and gloves
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift
- Work may involve tight production deadlines and fast‑paced operations
- Overtime, weekend, or shift work may be required based on production schedules
- Strict adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies is required
- Collaboration with machinists, programmers, engineers, maintenance personnel, and quality inspectors is expected
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision work
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and moving machinery
