Math Teacher
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a high school math teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics and a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for high school students. This position offers the opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of mathematicians, problem solvers, and critical thinkers.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelors' degree or higher; valid Georgia teacher certification or charter waiver eligible; such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent and the board may find appropriate.
Skills and abilities:
Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to relate to and motivate all students in a positive manner with respect; ability to effectively navigate and utilize a wide range of educational and career-related technology tools, software applications, and digital platforms while engaging students; ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
Performance responsibilities:
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance; completes all records and reports on time and with accuracy; be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all students; develop and implement instructional plans and materials aligned with state standards and curriculum frameworks; plan engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities; deliver instruction using a variety of methods, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on activities;
differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students and accommodate varying levels of readiness and learning pace; design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and understanding of mathematical concepts; analyze assessment data to evaluate student progress and inform instructional decisions; provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their performance and progress; collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine assessment tools and strategies;
implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive learning atmosphere and address behavioral issues constructively; collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and instructional strategies for enhancing math instruction; participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends, research, and pedagogical approaches in math education; supervise or assist in the supervision of school activities as assigned;
perform related duties as assigned as circumstances require; maintain satisfactory performance on the system evaluation instrument; perform other such duties needed or assigned by the principal/supervisor.
