ResponsibilitiesThe Mammography Technologist performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in patients. The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
QualificationsMinimum
Education Required:
Graduate of an JRCERT approved Radiologic Technology program.
Minimum Experience
Required:
None
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law: Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M) – ARRT.
Preferred: One (1) year minimum experience as a Mammography Technologist preferred.
Additional Qualifications: BLS certified.
Key Responsibilities- Performs quality screening, diagnostic and other mammography procedures.
- Reviews all exam requisitions for pertinent information and makes notes on all additional pertinent information.
- Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all required exams on patients, positioning the patient and equipment, selecting the protocol, technique and utilizing all required equipment.
- Evaluate images for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed.
- Ensures accuracy of each exam by following established procedures and labeling images correctly.
- Provide Customer Service/Support to patient population.
- Maintains all required records, reports, and files as required by Federal, State and other regulatory agencies.
- Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested.
- Must be able to perform quality Mammography examinations in accordance with all standards.
- Must be able to provide other technologists instruction on the same equipment.
- Must deliver SAFE care in accordance with the Alwaysafe program.
- Must use AIDET with every encounter and be proficient with service recovery.
