Position: Student Wellness Specialist (49%)

Student Wellness Specialist

The Student Wellness Specialist will provide direct, evidence-based mental and behavioral health services to support student and family well-being across all tiers of intervention (Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier
3). Utilizing a data-driven approach, the Specialist will analyze student and school-level data to develop effective support plans and will guide, coach, and collaborate with district staff, schools, and families to foster a comprehensive, proactive system of wellness and academic support.

Essential Functions

  • Provides individual, group, and family mental health and wellness support services across the district/LEA, utilizing culturally competent and trauma-informed practices.
  • Conducts comprehensive needs assessments and develops evidence-based intervention and service plans for school-aged youth and families.
  • Utilizes student and school-level data to design, implement, and monitor plans of intervention and support across all tiers of intervention (Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier
    3).
  • Guides, coaches, and collaborates with school staff and colleagues on how to effectively analyze and utilize data to inform student support plans.
  • Collaborates on the implementation of student screenings and mental health trainings; reviews resulting data to facilitate appropriate follow-up care and assess level of care needs.
  • Communicates and works closely with district leadership, school administrators, and community partners to provide regular updates, share data insights, and ensure a cohesive system of support.
  • Attends workshops, conferences, and meetings as required to maintain licensure/certification and stay current on evidence-based practices.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a human services field.
  • Georgia certification or licensure (MSW, LPC, LCSW, LMFT, School Psychologist, School Counselor).
  • Prior experience and competencies working with school-aged youth and families experiencing mental health concerns; experience in providing interventions, counseling, groups to individuals or groups of school-aged youth and families.

Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.

Education/Training

Maintains all licenses and certifications.
