Overview
Cardiac Advanced Practice Provider – Outpatient Acute Care Services – Piedmont Walton Hospital. Piedmont Heart Institute (PHI) is recruiting a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Acute Care Services team at Piedmont Walton Hospital in Monroe, GA. This is a full-time position with 4–10 hour days.
Responsibilities- Assist in the evaluation and treatment of Cardiology patients in inpatient and outpatient clinic settings.
- Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient’s record.
- Write progress notes, consults, admissions, and discharge summaries.
- Prepare patient workups.
- Order and schedule diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients as direct patient care services are delivered.
- Work alongside physicians and other Cardiology Advanced Practice Providers in a collaborative team.
- Assess patients and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
- Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient, patient’s family, and staff.
- Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patient’s progress, consulting with supervising physician when patients’ progress does not meet anticipated or predetermined criteria.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and Masters degree in Nursing or Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistants program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
Licenses and Certifications
- ACLS upon hire required.
- BCLS – Basic Life Support upon hire required.
- PA – Physician Assistant licensed in the State of Georgia, updated NCCPA certification for PAs, upon hire required.
- ACNP – Acute Care Nurse Practitioner licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP/FNP) in the State of Georgia, upon hire required.
