Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Responsible for teaching adult education classes using instructional methods geared towards the adult learner in a classroom setting

* Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to pass the high school equivalency tests and/or enhance basic education skills

* Delivers whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to students, using a variety of instructional methods, materials, and techniques

* Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students

* Assure that students who qualify are pre- and post-tested as needed using the TABE Assessment as dictated by DRC and Adult Education guidelines

* Keep daily attendance records and progress reports

* Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records

* Enter all reportable data, according to policy and procedures, into the approved Student Information System

* Participate and manage registration, testing, and scheduling events

* Establish a positive and trusting relationship with students

* Foster student accountability, self-advocacy, self-awareness, and critical thinking skills

* Adhere to regulations set forth regarding confidentiality of student records

* Promote participation of students in all aspects of Adult Education programming

* Maintain clean and professional classroom environment

* Adhere to LDCC's Standards of Practice

* Any other duties as assigned

Required

Education:

OUALIFICATIONS:

* An Associate's degree or higher

* Strong communication skills, including both written and oral, with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of personalities

PREFERRED OUALIFICATIONS:

* A Bachelor's degree

* Three (3) years teaching experience

NOTE:

This position is a grant funded position, and the continuation of the position is dependent upon funding availability. Continuation is based on the program meeting state and federal benchmarks.
