Locations: Monroe, LA

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruction & Student Success
    • Teach the equivalent of 24 credit hours/year (12‑month) or 21 credit hours/year (9‑month), unless otherwise approved.
    • Promote high‑impact teaching practices in composition, literature, and developmental English courses.
    • Support student success initiatives, including co‑requisite instruction, tutoring integration, and early alert systems.
    • Monitor student performance metrics (retention, completion, pass rates) and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Curriculum & Academic Quality
    • Ensure curriculum alignment with transfer institutions, statewide articulation agreements, and general education requirements.
    • Lead development, review, and revision of course curricula, syllabi, and learning outcomes.
    • Oversee assessment of student learning outcomes and use results for continuous improvement.
    • Maintain academic rigor and consistency across all course sections and modalities (face‑to‑face, online, hybrid).
    • Collaborate with other disciplines to support writing across the curriculum and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Faculty Leadership & Development
    • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate full‑time and adjunct English faculty.
    • Recruit and recommend qualified faculty in accordance with institutional policies.
    • Promote professional development in composition pedagogy, digital literacy, and inclusive teaching practices.
    • Foster a collaborative departmental culture focused on innovation and student‑centered instruction.
  • Scheduling, Operations & Administration
    • Develop and manage course schedules to ensure access, efficiency, and alignment with student demand.
    • Assign faculty teaching loads and monitor workload compliance.
    • Oversee textbook and instructional material selection, ensuring affordability and academic quality.
    • Manage departmental budget, including instructional resources and professional development expenditures.
    • Maintain accurate and current course information in the college catalog, website, and advising materials.
  • Assessment, Accreditation & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards (SACSCOC), and state guidelines.
    • Collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness in data collection, reporting, and program evaluation.
    • Support program review processes and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Student Support & Engagement
    • Support advising efforts and collaborate with student services to enhance student pathways and completion.
    • Promote literacy initiatives, writing centers, and academic support services.
    • Engage in outreach with K‑12 partners to support dual enrollment and college readiness in English.
  • Institutional Leadership & Service
    • Serve on college committees, councils, and task forces as assigned.
    • Contribute to institutional strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Represent the English Department in internal and external partnerships, including transfer institutions.
    • Promote a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and respect within the department and institution.
    • Promotes LDCC institutional and cultural standards of practice.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Instruction or designee.
Required Education
  • Master's degree in English, Literature, Rhetoric/Composition, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in English.
  • Qualifications must meet Louisiana Delta Community College Faculty Credentialing Policy () and applicable accreditation standards.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of college‑level teaching experience; community college experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership, coordination, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching composition, developmental education, and/or literature courses.
  • Strong understanding of student learning outcomes assessment, curriculum design, and instructional best practices in English education.
  • Experience with co‑requisite remediation models, 'writing across the curriculum (WAC), or integrated reading/writing approaches preferred.
