Salary: $54,750 - $57,000.
- Teach the equivalent of 18 credit hours per year, typically 9 hours in the fall semester and 9 hours in the spring semester. Overload course assignments may be authorized and limited to the equivalent of 6 credit hours per semester.
- Coordinate practicum scheduling, orientation, documentation, and resolution of student or site concerns in a timely manner.
- Ensure program and student compliance with clinical and field affiliate requirements, including immunizations, background checks, physicals, and drug screenings.
- Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of courses, with emphasis on clinical/field components and quality improvement processes.
- Collaborate with regional EMS programs and clinical/field sites for preceptor orientation and evaluation.
- Assist Program Coordinator with selection and evaluation of instructional resources, including textbooks, lab supplies, and library materials.
- Conduct site visits to affiliated clinical locations to ensure quality instruction and student evaluation.
- Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures related to clinical and field education.
- Assist in evaluation of student knowledge and skills through lab instruction and practical examinations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This position requires compliance with all clinical affiliate requirements, including criminal background checks, drug screening, immunization verification, and physical examination clearance.
- Must maintain all required state and national EMS certifications and instructor credentials.
- Work schedule may include day, evening, or occasional weekend responsibilities based on program needs.
- Travel between clinical and field sites is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a related field.
- Nationally Registered Paramedic.
- Current Louisiana Licensed Paramedic.
- Ability to obtain EMS Instructor licensure in Louisiana within 6 months of hire.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
- Experience in a higher education training environment.
- Experience coordinating clinical or field education programs.
- Experience with accreditation standards and compliance (state and/or national EMS education standards).
- American Heart Association Instructor certification (ACLS, BLS, and PALS).
- National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Instructor certification (e.g., PHTLS).
- Two years of field experience as a paramedic providing direct patient care.
- Two years of teaching experience (classroom, clinical, or field instruction).
