Teacher Position at Green Oaks Detention Center
A teacher working at Green Oaks Detention Center must be patient, adaptable, and committed to helping incarcerated students from diverse educational, cultural, and behavioral backgrounds. The teacher will provide structured, engaging instruction while recognizing that students may have different learning abilities, academic gaps, emotional needs, and life experiences. The teacher will also work closely with MCS schools to obtain missing work, assignments, and other instructional materials so students can remain current with their coursework and continue making academic progress while detained.
This role requires maintaining a safe and respectful classroom, setting clear expectations, and using trauma-informed and culturally responsive teaching practices. The teacher will collaborate with school personnel, detention center staff, counselors, and other professionals to support each student's academic progress and personal development. Above all, the teacher will encourage students to build confidence, develop practical skills, and view education as a pathway toward positive change and future success.
