Job Summary

The Auto CAD Designer in the Fire Sprinkler department will create sprinkler design drawings and track submittals and approvals. The position works in a team environment to provide technical support to the technicians and project managers throughout the delivery cycle. The role requires a strong understanding of the customer’s needs and expectations and is able to provide day‑to‑day direction and make appropriate changes in customer requirements as needed.

The position performs a vital part in enhancing the Company’s footprint and has the capability to contribute to the strength and sustainable growth of Fire Safety First.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Reviews construction contract documents and coordinates with Subcontractors and General Contractor/Owner to gather the required information to design the projects sprinkler systems.
  • Determines construction feasibility of plans and systems through effective analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Creates detailed drawings through extensive use of AutoCAD.
  • Creates stock list for all materials required throughout the project.
  • Performs hydraulic calculation.
  • Coordinates pipe and sprinkler locations with building components.
  • Performs field surveys.
  • Attends project specific meetings.
  • Maintains designs and historical records for all functions for future use.
  • Monitors and manages all assigned projects to comply with safety, quality, productivity and profitability requirements.
  • Assists and or directs the lead foreman during the field check stage of the project.
  • Ensures work complies with codes and permits.
  • Interacts productively with colleagues to address and handle challenging situations in a professional manner.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and general public.
  • Helps identify continuous improvement in processes and offers solutions to promote efficiency.
  • Adheres to all company employment policies and safe practices.
Experience/Training/Education
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in fire sprinkler CAD design practical experience.
  • NICET certification, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in drafting/CAD and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of multiple electronic building systems is a plus.
  • Project planning.
