Position Overview

Life Share is seeking a dependable Blood Product Distribution Technician to join our hospital services team at the Monroe donor center. The Technician will provide excellent customer service and ensure a safe blood supply is available at healthcare centers in our community when needed for traumas, therapies, and treatments. Starting pay is $14.71 per hour.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Dependable, punctual, and effective communicator

  • Current valid driver’s license, 3 years driving history, satisfactory driving record
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Frequent operation of a vehicle, sometimes for long periods
  • Lift equipment up to 40 lbs unassisted
  • Work irregular hours, often exceeding 8 hours per day, including on‑call rotation, weekends and holidays
  • Work with needles, scissors, blood bags, human blood and blood processing equipment in a fast‑paced environment
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases from blood and blood products
Position Summary

Monitors blood product inventory levels; retrieves blood products from collection sites; receives and fulfills customer orders; packages and delivers products to healthcare facilities and to other centers as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive company vehicle to pick up donor blood from blood collection sites and transport blood to appropriate locations
  • Prepare all necessary paperwork; separate unsuitable units; package blood products and blood sample tubes for transport to processing facility
  • Prepare apheresis product in computer
  • Monitor product inventory levels and notify supervisor when levels fall below established minimums; identify and remove outdated products
  • Answer telephone to receive product orders from hospital customers or other centers; document orders, select units, charge and fill orders
  • Package for transport and/or shipment of blood, blood components and/or derivatives; convert and relabel product
  • Receive returns of products and document appropriately in computer system
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, OSHA, AABB) and comply with good manufacturing practices (cGMP)
  • Participate in meetings such as in‑service training, continuing education programs, staff meetings, and safety meetings
  • Maintain, organize, clean and decontaminate functional work area, equipment and vehicles; report malfunctioning equipment or vehicles promptly
  • Make routine decisions pertaining to work duties as permitted under policies and procedures; refer to supervisor any issues that could potentially harm a donor or employee, cause adverse opinions of the Center or Company, or interfere with operations
  • Meet and exceed customer expectations and adhere to established quality practices while seeking to continually improve work performance

  • Promote cooperation and communication within a team to achieve company and departmental goals and deliverables
  • Complete other assignments and duties as may be assigned
