Ultrasonographer - Healthy Moms Clinic

Job Description

Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations using ultrasonic equipment, locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data. Maintain and calibrate equipment, record test results, and update patient records for referring physicians.

• Make adjustments to equipment to ensure proper technique and maintain supplies needed for specific procedures.
• Schedule examinations in coordination with other operating areas to ensure proper and efficient sequencing and maintain coverage and call back services in area of responsibility.
• Perform high‑quality ultrasound examinations in a prudent and efficient manner, maintain examination records, and generate accurate reports for administration and other operating areas as needed.
• Prepare patients for examination by explaining the procedure, providing instruction, obtaining clinical history and consent, and provide compassionate patient care by assisting in transfer, positioning, and following procedure completion.
• Verify and ensure the quality of all patient examinations upon completion and assist radiology in maintaining quality assurance standards and the integrity of studies performed within the department.
• Ensure work areas and examination rooms are adequately stocked with equipment and supplies and properly cleaned and disinfected to provide a safe and reliable environment for quality patient care.
• Verify all work performed on the radiology computer system to ensure patients are transported to and from the department in a timely and courteous manner and that procedures are performed as indicated.
• Observe and adhere to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and departmental and hospital policies and procedures pertinent to area of responsibility.
• Perform the duties of a Radiology Transporter as needed to meet the needs of the patient and department.
• Participate in educational programs, in‑service meetings, and training sessions to share expertise and support education and personal growth for new personnel, volunteers, and interns.
• Contribute to student education and supervision and maintain knowledge of competency‑based clinical education plans to support continuing education efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

• Education:
  
  Post‑High School Vocational/Specialized Training and completion of an Ultrasound program.
• Licensure/Certification: BLS certification.
