Responsibilities
  • As a Lead Cable Technician, oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network cabling infrastructure within data center environments.
  • Guide and support a team of technicians, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, interpret technical documentation, and maintain compliance with industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure project progress, and provide structured feedback on project status to stakeholders.
  • Maintain data center cleanliness and exhibit quality workmanship on all work performed.
  • Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies.
What you will Need
  • Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
  • Must be capable of leading a crew of 1-5 technicians.
  • Understand customer service, perform job walks, and communicate with customers for job requirements.
  • Accept responsibility for the outcome of work performed by himself/herself and by employees who report to him/her.
  • Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand job floor plans.
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing.
  • Ability to pull all types of low voltage cables.
  • Understand and perform field terminations and labeling.
  • Capable of maintaining orderly paperwork and running midsize to large projects and service jobs.
  • Layout MDF and IDF closets, dress all types of cable, and perform all types of terminations; basic understanding of fiber equipment, cable and fiber terminations.
  • Basic understanding of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
  • Capable of working in Data Centers.
  • Ability to work on analog, DSL, and extend T1 lines; patch network equipment.
  • Reports to Operations Manager and takes daily directions from Technician, Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians and Advance Senior Technicians.
  • Track and submit timesheets for crew reporting; perform job walks; maintain paperwork and run service jobs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of metrics/SLA’s and ability to track them.
  • Knowledge and understanding of network handover and project close out.
  • Identify the tech’s strengths and weaknesses to support performance development.
