As a Technician II, you will be responsible for installing and decommissioning network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment while ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry best practices. This role requires technical proficiency in pulling and terminating copper and fiber cables, performing splicing, troubleshooting circuits, and maintaining accurate documentation. A solid understanding of wiring schemes, testing procedures, and data center technologies is essential, along with the ability to deliver high‑quality workmanship and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
WhatYou'll Do
- Installation/decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
- Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
- Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders.
- Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain data center cleanliness.
- Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
- Show broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies.
- Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
- Accept responsibility for the outcome of work performed.
- Understand customer service.
- Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
- Read and understand job floor plans.
- Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing.
- Ability to pull all types of low‑voltage cable.
- Perform field terminations and labeling.
- Maintain orderly paperwork, run midsize projects and service jobs.
- Skill to layout MDF and IDF closets, dress all types of cable and perform all types of terminations.
- Work in data centers.
- Work on analog, DSL, and extend T1 lines.
- Patch network equipment.
- Basic understanding of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot copper and fiber cables.
- Work on analog lines and extend T1 connections.
- Direct/supervise others to perform tasks.
- Decommission fiber trunks and jumpers.
- Troubleshoot fiber circuits (Versiv OLTS, OTDR).
- Perform fiber splicing (OSP, ISP, SM, MM).
- Conduct and supervise service swaps.
- Perform multiple‑pair copper splicing.
- Follow infrastructure design and install.
